As the anniversary of when me and my fiancĂ© Adam first met is on the 11th February, it always ties in nicely to Valentine’s Day. I love any excuse to plan and make accessories and decorations for an event no matter how small, so if you are celebrating valentines or not, this diy can be adapted and used to create a banner using any cutout shapes in no time at all!
- Firstly you need to cut out your paper shapes, I used these paper cutters because I recently found it on sale at hobbycraft for £6! But it’s huge, and I have smaller one too (I kind of collect paper cutters). You can also cut out the paper hearts by hand, but I’m using the cutter for speed.
- Next I threaded my sewing machine with red thread and slowly fed each heart through one at a time, so the thread connects them.
- Then tie off both ends of the threads before cutting off the excess.
- Lastly, hang it up! I put mine up over the sofa as this is my only large wall space, but you could also sew them vertically like this and hang them from the ceiling using these damage free hooks!
Adam and I have dinner at the table almost every evening but adding a few extra touches like this makes it a bit more special than your average dinner in. I hope you have a lovely day on valentines whether you choose to celebrate it or not, let me know if you try this banner out by leaving a comment and sending me a pic!
